Last night I took a walk with Joey. He’s a red heeler / shepherd mix - and I consider him my “baby boy”. I love this dog! He was my Mother’s Day present 9 years ago when I rescued him from the shelter. We have been inseparable since. Joey believes that I am the most important person on earth. Truly, madly, deeply. Everyone deserves that kind of daily validation! I’m blessed.
Unfortunately, I have been neglecting him and he has had very few walks for several weeks. Thus, last night he was in complete disbelief when I told him to go get his leash. He stared at me and tilted his head to try to determine if I was actually joking or serious. When I assured him I was serious, he nearly busted the door down to get outside! It has been HOT here – hitting high 90′s / low 100′s, so I had waited until about 8 PM to go, and it was still oppressive. But it felt so great to get outdoors. First stop on my walk was over to my Health Coach’s house to pick up a “quick start guide” she wanted me to read before my Medifast products arrive. We had a great chat (much to Joey’s dismay – because he REALLY wanted his walk) Then Joe and I wandered up the steep hills of my neighborhood, where I was blessed by God with a glorious reward!
By the time we reached “the summit” it was getting late, and I got to watch the most incredible bright red sunset! Fortunately, I had my camera with me. WOW !It really made me wonder why I ever stopped walking in the first place?!
So far, I’m 3 for 3 on making life changes before my Medifast package arrives.
1. 64 oz. water per day
2. Eat breakfast
3. Get Moving! -And that definitely includes taking my good ole Joe buddy out for a daily walk. He truly thinks he’s died and gone to heaven.
After seeing that heavenly sunset, I think it’s a sign I’m definitely headed in the right direction.
